Northern Virginia native John Figura has been singing and playing guitar in the DC area since he was a teenager. His first band in high school, Five-0, screamed their way through adolescence with a punk rock energy that continues to inform his songwriting and playing to date. Sharing a love for Telecaster twang, he and his father, local artist also named John Figura, founded the Gulley Jimson Quartet in the heyday of the underground art space Signal 66. They have been performing their loud, uncompromising mix of rockabilly, alt-country, and garage punk in local bars and clubs for over a decade and show no signs of quieting down any time soon. John also spent a number of years playing lead guitar for the indie-rock band The Incorrigibles. During these ongoing and recent projects John has often performed as a solo acoustic act and started a number of punk bands.
